(We’ve all clicked on a link before and gone to a page filled with useless garbage and ads, so you don’t want the same thing on your site.) You want your human visitors to get the info they came looking for, so they’ll trust you and come back when they’re looking for more information.
Next, make sure your META-TITLE tags are different for all of your pages. These should reflect whatever is in the main content of your page. Also very important are your META-DESCRIPTION tags, these should be either the first or most important paragraph of the content or a short general summary of the page content.
If possible, one or two of your key phrases should be able to be worked into these tags.
These tags are used by most search engines as not only the words at the top of your browser window (META-TITLE), but also the title (META-TITLE) and description (META-DESCRIPTION) which show up on the search engine results page. Even if you get your page to show up at the top in listings, your link may get skipped over if the description doesn’t tell the searcher that you have what they want to find.
